Every Mustachios expedition begins with anticipation, and Oakridge has been on the club's radar for years.
Widely regarded as one of the premier mountain biking destinations in the Pacific Northwest, Oakridge promises three days of legendary singletrack, towering forests, flowing descents, and the kind of riding that keeps mountain bikers coming back year after year. With miles of shuttle-assisted trails and a reputation for epic scenery, it has all the ingredients for another unforgettable adventure.
This year's home base is a lakeside house, giving the crew a place to unwind after each day on the trails. Mornings will begin with coffee and anticipation, afternoons will be spent chasing dirt through the Oregon wilderness, and evenings will be filled with good food, cold drinks, and the stories that somehow get better every time they're told.
Like every Mustachios expedition, the destination is only part of the experience. The real adventure is spending time together, exploring a new corner of the mountain biking world, and adding another chapter to the history of the club.
The trails have already been mapped. The house is booked. The gear is packed. All that's left is to grow the Stache, point the bikes downhill, and see what stories Oakridge has waiting for us.
Oakridge is famous for long descents, but you'll still earn your turns. Expect 3β5 hour ride days with plenty of time in the saddle, even when using shuttles.
Trails are typically fast, flowy, and covered in hero dirt under dense forest canopy. Expect roots, loose corners, and occasional slick sections if it's rained.
Fresh brake pads are highly recommended. Long descents can be hard on brakes, tires, and drivetrains.
Even though the forest provides shade, late-summer temperatures can climb into the 80s or higher. Bring more water than you think you'll need.
Lightweight riding gear
Rain shell (weather can change quickly)
Warm hoodie or jacket for evenings by the lake
Camp clothes and sandals
Mosquitoes can be active around the lake, especially near dusk. Bug spray is worth packing.
Don't forget a swimsuit. The house is on the lake, and a post-ride swim may be just as memorable as the riding.
Bring a GoPro, drone (where permitted), or camera. Oakridge is known for spectacular scenery and deserves to be documented.
Plan for relaxed evenings. Good food, cold drinks, and swapping stories are part of the expedition.
